Terrence “Tee” Mewborn started doing this work himself in Brooklyn in 2018.

Founder Terrence “Tee” Mewborn had spent years inside the gig economy — service-marketplace jobs, delivery routes, and warehouse floors. He saw the same thing from every seat: the people doing the work carried the risk and kept the smallest share of it, and the customer never knew who was walking through the door.

An early investment from a family member got the first tool set and a box of business cards. The work came from neighbors, then from their neighbors.

He built Help and Handy around what he learned doing the work. The company was incorporated in 2023 and launched as Help and Handy in 2026 — today a technology marketplace headquartered in Harlem and operating across all five boroughs, with flat-rate pricing, background-checked and insured independent pros, and one standard for the work no matter which borough it is in. Manhattan is run by headquarters, and it is where every standard gets tested before anyone else uses it.
